Dentists

In order to be licensed as a full practicing member in Saskatchewan the following criteria must be met. Registration forms for licensure can be obtained by contacting the College Office. Contact us at cdss@saskdentists.com.

  • An applicant must satisfy the Council that he/she is a person of good character.
  • An applicant must produce a currently valid certificate of qualification from the National Dental Examining Board of Canada (NDEB).
  • An applicant must produce a letter of good standing from a jurisdiction outside of Saskatchewan, if relocating to Saskatchewan from that jurisdiction.
  • An applicant must pay the prescribed fees, completed all required forms, provide proof of required insurance and has otherwise been approved by the Registrar for registration as a regular member.


Specialists

In order to be certified as a specialist with the College of Dental Surgeons of Saskatchewan, the following criteria must be met.

  • An applicant must be a regular, practicing life member or faculty member in good standing.
  • An applicant must have completed a minimum of a two year post graduate program in a specialty recognized by the College and which program is from a school or faculty accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of Canada or the American Dental Association.
  • An applicant must have successfully completed a national examination in that specialty, such an examination being approved by the College.
  • An applicant must pay the prescribed fees, completed all required forms and has otherwise been approved by the Registrar for registration as a specialist in a particular specialty.

Professional Liability Insurance

All regular members, practicing life members, faculty members and temporary members who will be making clinical presentations shall obtain and provide proof of professional liability insurance in a form satisfactory to the Registrar and in the amount not less than three million dollars ($3,000,000.00) in the aggregate with a carrier approved by the Registrar or failing the Registrar’s approval , the approval of Council on an appeal from the Registrar’s decision.

Non-National Dental Examining Board (NDEB) Applicants

Persons who are graduates of non-accredited Canadian or American dental schools are required to complete an accredited qualifying program or degree completion program prior to being eligible to participate in the National Dental Examining Board’s certification (examination) process.
